In only its second year, Southchurch Art Trail, a vibrant collaboration between Project Southchurch and K Mitchell Events, kicked off on Monday 18th September, showcasing the talents of 70+ artists on display in 45+ businesses along Southchurch Road.
As the trail enters its final days, the September Stroll on the 23rd September marked a highlight, attracting art enthusiasts to The SCF Plaza on Southchurch Road for a day packed full of events.
The hub featured 15 additional artists within the hall, six engaging art demonstrations, and live music courtesy of the Song School. Attendees were also treated to two captivating walking tours: the iSpy Walking Tour with local photography enthusiast Térèse Wilmot gave a unique and inspiring new insight into the architecture and sights in Southchurch.
In addition a History Walk with Chris Langdon took us on a journey through time discovering untold mysteries from the earliest beginnings of Southchurch to the stories and importance of Southend and the local area during the war.
The EastQuarter Street Gallery witnessed dynamic transformations with 10 street artists creating live works at the junction of Surbiton Road and Southchurch Road, complementing existing installations by Dan Kitchener with a fresh display of vibrant art including a mural of local fundraising hero Lee Clark who’s surpassed a milestone £300k raised for charity this week after successfully climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in his latest fundraiser.
Art enthusiasts of all ages have been exploring and even contributing to the trail along Southchurch Road.
As the Southchurch Art Trail approaches its conclusion, all of the artists, venues, organisers, volunteers and sponsors can be incredibly proud of a trail and celebration of community, history and art that not only doubled in size but also left an indelible mark on the streets of Southchurch.
