Back for the third time, by popular demand and with no small amount of Christmas magic, this weekend will see Southchurch become a winter wonderland once again!
For the last two years, Frostbite has been an event enjoyed by the whole community. This Saturday from 1pm, the area will come alive with festivities as artisan stalls packed with crafts and treats come together at The Plaza, 600 Southchurch Road. Enjoy the delicious food and drink on offer, relax and catch up with friends, meet new ones and celebrate with the regular mix of music, carols and drama on the main stage.
This week it was confirmed that Santa will be attending and is due around 3pm. Times may slightly vary due to air traffic control and the availability of bringing Santa from the secret car park where the reindeers are being looked after.
Organised by Project Southchurch, this year’s Frostbite will be held indoors at The Plaza, 600 Southchurch Road on 2nd December 1pm – 5.30pm with an “Après Frostbite” celebrated by many of the independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants in the Southchurch area.
You could even enjoy the EastQuarter Street Gallery from the Southchurch Art Trail with work from John Bulley, Scotty Brave, Dan Kitchener, Nathan Bowen and many more, marvel at the work by local artist Karl Sims on the side of the Southend Christian Fellowship and also the magnificent work on the gable end of a house overlooking the Ilfracombe Avenue Car Park where last year’s event was held.
This year the sleigh bells will be ringing indoors but come Saturday, the spirit of Christmas will be alive and well in Southchurch thanks to the heroic efforts of the community and everyone at Project Southchurch!
