Yesterday c2c were announced as Southend United’s new front-of-shirt partners, with Nelmo & Co, D2 Design & Build and Workplace Safety Solutions also appearing on the brand-new Macron shirts.
The navy blue home kit features yellow pinstripes on the shirt and a yellow collar, while the shorts also include touches of yellow; their the most prominent use of yellow on the home shirt since the iconic ‘custard splat’ kit of the 1990s.
The away shirt is predominantly red for the first time in 15 years. It is the same design as the home kit, with the pinstripes and collar in navy blue and the logos of the club and Macron are in yellow.
Both shirts give a nod to the Club’s history with Southend United’s formation year of 1906 and the Essex seaxes appearing on the back.
Announcing their sponsorship, Rob Mullen, Managing Director at c2c said: “I am thrilled that c2c is able to demonstrate its commitment to the football club and wider City of Southend through this season’s shirt sponsorship and our newly acquired Platinum Partner status. Southend United, along with c2c, is synonymous with the city, and our visions and values for the future growth, prosperity and success (on and off the pitch) of the local area are very much aligned and at the forefront of everything we do.”
Rob continued: “Every season, thousands of Blues’ fans travel from across south Essex on c2c services to home and away matches, and we look forward to supporting everyone connected with Southend United on our journey back into the football league.”
Southend United’s new home kit will be seen in action for the very first time against Gillingham on Saturday 27 July (13:00 kick-off).
The kits will be available to purchase online here and in person at the club shop from 10am today (Friday).
