222 goal thriller featuring over 100 players in a huge 24 hour football clash sees local sports stars raise big money for local charities

Last week, Garon Park hosted an epic 24 hour football match that saw Adventure Island’s Stockvale United take on The Farke Knight Rises CFC in a 222 goal thriller. The monumental fundraiser featured players of all levels from the Mayor of Southend to Southend United’s Justin Rees, the Echo’s Chris Phillips and Southend City Radio’s own Stewart Pink. Shrimperscast: the transfer embargo bites as blues suffer 2-1 home defeat and we look ahead to Kidderminster away

In this episode, we discuss Blues’ 2-1 home defeat to Bromley as the embargo bites going into the busy Christmas period, we hear all about the Shrimpers Trust AGM, and we look forward to three games as the fixtures come thick and fast, with an away game at Kidderminster Harriers, followed by a double header against Barnet at home on boxing day and away the following weekend.

Monday was another first for Southend City FC as the club’s transgender team met for their first training session. We spoke with some of the players to hear about the team’s plans and why having a local transgender team is so important.

Southend City FC Women ahead of their first season

On Sunday, Southend City FC Women’s Team pitched up against Runwell Sports Ladies FC in what was only their second ever friendly game. Shortly before kick-off, striker and Women’s Team captain, Mel Dayment spoke to Southend City Radio about what it has been like getting a new squad of players together for the women’s team and how Southend City FC has already become a friendly and welcoming place for new players.
